Photo of open fieldWe are 9 miles from Woodbridge, at the end of the B1083 which runs down through the Suffolk Sandlings to Bawdsey Quay.  The British Rail East Suffolk Line from Woodbridge or Melton stations gives easy access to London, Cambridge and Norwich.

Day trips

Sutton Hoo, the burial site of Anglo Saxon kings, is minutes from Bawdsey. http://www.suttonhoo.org/

Orford is a lovely village to visit with its castle and Orford Ness nature reserve to visit. http://www.orford.org.uk/

Rendlesham Wood and Sandlings Forest recreation. Rendlesham wood is only 30-40 minutes away from Bawdsey and is home to Sandlings Recreational area which includes an orienteering and UFO trail, as well as bikes to hire. http://www.forestry.gov.uk

Visit Easton Farm Park, about 30 minutes from Bawdsey. This is great for younger students with pony rides and hug a bunny! http://www.eastonfarmpark.co.uk/

Felixstowe is a short ferry ride across the Deben estuary from a boat at Bawdsey Quay. This ferry only runs at weekends, so check for running times and prices (£1 return for children and £2.50 for adults at the time of writing). Tel: Deben Ferry on 01394 282173 or 07709 411511. There are no set ferry times you just have to wave a flag for attention! In Felixstowe you can walk along the front to look at the flood defences or just visit the town and its amenities (20-30 minute walk).
