Extracurricular Activities
Below are some additional ideas for activities on site. You are also welcome to make a preliminary visit to explore the site and create your own projects and activities.
- Bat walk: we have pipistrelle bats roosting on site and we can direct you to the best places to see them. At the moment we have one basic bat detector and guides which you can use.
- Orienteering: we can provide you with maps of the site and compasses for you to create your own orienteering course or treasure hunt
- Gardening: ask in advance if there are jobs to do in our large vegetable garden. Small groups of students may be able to help with planting or weeding.
- Astronomy in the secret garden: the circular garden provides the perfect base for star gazing.
- Camp fire: you are permitted to have a campfire on the beach in front of the beach houses.
- Disco: Let us know in advance if you wish to use the disco in the clock tower
- Bird watching: A wide variety of birds are found on site at Bawdsey and also along the Deben Estuary.

- Cross country running trail
- Bikes and helmets
- Games room including table football, computer games and pool.

- Sailing and canoe lessons
- Power boating
- Horse riding at a nearby stables
